Read the pay table first
Look at what a full house and a flush pay for one coin. 9 and 6 is the full-pay version; 8 and 5 or lower costs you more than 2% of every euro you stake.
| Pay table (full house / flush) | RTP with perfect play |
|---|---|
| 9 / 6 | About 99.54% |
| 8 / 5 | About 97.30% |
| 7 / 5 | About 96.15% |
| 6 / 5 | About 95.00% |
Which cards to hold
- Any made royal flush, straight flush or four of a kind.
- Four to a royal flush, even if it breaks a made flush or straight.
- A made full house, flush, straight or three of a kind.
- Four to a straight flush.
- Two pairs, then a high pair (jacks or better).
- Three to a royal flush.
- Four to a flush, then a low pair, then four to an open-ended straight.
- Two or more high cards, ideally of the same suit.
- With nothing else, draw five new cards.
Coins, bankroll and bonuses
Most machines pay the royal flush at 250 for 1 with fewer than five coins and 800 for 1 with five. Play five coins at a lower coin value rather than one coin at a higher one.
Variance is moderate: a royal flush comes along about once every 40,000 hands. Keep each bet to about 1% of your session budget. Video poker often counts for only a small share of bonus wagering, so check the terms.
